Nakumatt to open hypermarket in Kampala

Nakumatt Holdings a supermarket chain in Kenya plans to open its first outlet in Uganda in April, a move that is expected to result in reduced prices on some products amid stiff competition in the market.
According to Nakumatt Holdings operations director ,Thiagarajan Ramamurthy, Nakumatt will open its hypermarket at the new Oasis Shopping Mall which is in its final phase. The opening of Nakumatt in a prime up-market Kampala will increase the number of foreign supermarkets operating in Uganda to four besides several local brands.

On Monday, 16 March, Nakumatt Holdings issued a public notice in the press, calling on Ugandan suppliers of consumer products, to express interest in supplying various merchandise to the store in preparation for its opening due in the third week of April.
