Zain Nigeria recently announced that it has entered into a managed services and care contract with Nokia Siemens Networks. The agreement covers full network management, operations and maintenance, aiming to ensure network availability at all times across Nigeria. 
LAGOS: The Board of Zain Nigeria, late last week, announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer, Alain Sainte-Marie. Sainte-Marie replaces Bayo Ligali who, according to the Board of Directors of the company, has moved on to pursue other interests after a three-year stint as CEO of the telecommunications company. 
LAGOS: Zain Nigeria has launched a new product that allows customers on its network to choose their tariff plans. The product, called Zain Joli, allows pre-paid customers to determine their spending patterns by choosing specific packages. 
MTN on Thursday, 23 July 2009, said it has launched its Mobile Money offering in Ghana. 
Zain has extended its contract with Nokia Siemens Networks to handle the implementation of an additional 600km in Nigeria to its 4000km nationwide fibre-optic network. 
Econet Wireless Group (EWG) has started moves to block Zain's sale of its interests in Zain Nigeria until ruling on a dispute over ownership of the company is passed. 
LONDON: Gateway Communications has been appointed to provide Etisalat with cellular backhaul for its Nigerian mobile network. The deal, worth US$6 million over a two-year term, aims to connect three major cities in Nigeria.

Readers can access the full text of an article on their mobile phones serviced by three of the country's major networks.
